Pilonidal sinus is a painful condition that can happen in both genders. But, young men are more prone to pilonidal sinus. Pilonidal sinus starts with a cyst-like structure that develops along the tailbone, just near the cleft of the buttocks. In the initial stage, the pilonidal cyst appears as a dimple like depression only and later grows into a full-size cyst.

What are Anorectal Fissures :

An anal fissure is a small tear or a crack in the lining of the anus. Anal fissure may occur when passing hard or large stools causing pain and bleeding during bowel movements.Anal fissures can occur in anyone at any age. The chance of having an anal fissure decreases as people get older. People who have had fissures in the past are more likely to have them in the future.

What causes an anal fissure?

Anal fissures can be caused by trauma to the anus and anal canal. The trauma can be caused by one or more of the following:

  • Chronic (long-term) constipation
  • Straining to have a bowel movement, especially if the stool is large, hard and/or dry
  • Prolonged diarrhea
  • Anal sex, anal stretching
  • Insertion of foreign objects into the anus

  • Pain during, and even hours after, a bowel movement

  • Blood on the outside surface of the stool
  • Blood on toilet tissue or wipes
  • A visible crack or tear in the anus or anal canal
  • Burning and itching that may be painful
  • Discomfort when urinating, frequent urination, or inability to urinate
  • Foul-smelling discharge

The leading causes of an anal fistula are clogged anal glands and anal abscesses. Other, much less common, conditions that can cause an anal fistula include:

  • Crohn’s disease (an inflammatory disease of the intestine)

What is a pilonidal cyst?

A pilonidal cyst is a round sac of tissue that's filled with air or fluid. This common type of cyst is located in the crease of the buttocks and is usually caused by a skin infection. Pilonidal cysts are a common condition, with more than 70,000 cases reported in the U.S. every year. But many people feel too embarrassed to mention it – even to their healthcare providers.

Pilonidal cysts can cause pain and need to be treated. Pilonidal cysts can be a one-time (acute) problem or you may have chronic (returning) cysts. If they’re not treated, chronic pilonidal cysts can also lead to abscesses (swollen pockets of infection) and sinus cavities (empty spaces underneath the skin).

What are the symptoms of a pilonidal cyst?

Quickly get medical attention if you notice any of these symptoms:

  • Pain which often gets worse when you’re sitting.
  • A small dimple or large swollen area between your buttocks. This is usually the pilonidal cyst. You may notice the area is red and feels tender.
  • An abscess with draining pus or blood. This fluid may be foul-smelling.
  • Nausea, fever and extreme tiredness (fatigue).

Type of surgery recommended: Based on the type of surgery recommended by the anorectal surgeon, the piles treatment cost in Chandigarh differs. While the laser treatment costs minimum, the open surgery is considered to be the most costliest one. Different types of piles surgeries that affect the overall cost of the treatment are listed below:

Haemorrhoidectomy: This surgery is conducted for treating severe grades of piles. During the surgical process, the proctologist makes a few incisions around the piles tissue, followed by tying off the swollen veins to reduce bleeding and then the haemorrhoid is removed.

Hemorrhoid Stapling (Stapler Surgery): In this type of surgical removal of piles, the arterial blood vessels present within the haemorrhoids are cut off using a stapler device, thus blocking further blood flow to the vessels. Due to this, with time, the haemorrhoid reduces and finally shrinks off. This kind of surgery does not inflict much pain and ensures quick recovery of the patients.

Laser surgery: It is considered one of the most effective, latest and advanced surgical treatments for haemorrhoids. During piles laser treatment in Chandigarh, a laser beam is focussed on the anal tissues such that it burns and shrinks the haemorrhoids. Laser surgery for piles is minimally invasive with no or less bleeding and very minute pain.
