Spearheading the Cancer Campaign on World Cancer Day 2019

Cancer is an exploding epidemic in India. It is the second biggest killer in India, and 8.17% cancer deaths worldwide occur in India alone.  Some very sobering statistics about cancer in our country.

  1. One woman dies of cervical cancer every 8 minutes in India.
  2. For every 2 women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, one woman dies of it.
  3. As many as 2,500 persons die every day due to tobacco-related diseases in India.
  4. Cancers of oral cavity and lungs account for over 25% of cancer deaths in males and cancer of breast and oral cavity account for 25% cancers in females.
  5. One in every 10 persons in India will suffer from cancer in their lifetime.

On the occasion of World Cancer Day 2019 Patel Hospital conducted a seminar with the different -different reputed organizations and Institutions.

On 30 January 2019 Dr. Shikha Chawla, Radiation Oncologist from Patel Hospital hosted a seminar on world cancer day at Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala more than 50 doctors participated in this seminar. Dr. Shikha Chawla explained benefit of Early Detection and Prevention of cancer. In the continuation of this on 2nd February 2019 Dr Shikha Chawla from Patel Hospital conducted a seminar on world cancer day at HMV College, Jalandhar more than 150 students participated in this seminar and took knowledge about cancer disease.

On 4 February 2019 Dr Anchal Aggarwal and Dr Jatinder from Patel Hospital given a seminar on early detection and prevention of cancer awareness at CT Institute Maqsuda K.M.V College and Reliance Mall, Jalandhar respectively more than 250 students attended this seminar.

On 4-5 February 2019 Patel Hospital conducted a free screening Camp at Patel Hospital Jalandhar more than 200 Patient took the benefit from this camp. In this camp Mammography, Papsmear, Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) was free for the patient.

On 5 February 2019 Dr Sajal Goel and Dr Shikha Chawla from Patel Hospital conducted a seminar on early detection and prevention of cancer awareness at Civil Hospital and C.T Institute Jalandhar respectively more than 250 students attended this seminar.

On 7 February 2019 Patel Hospital plain to conduct a seminar at Gurudwara- Gakhal, Jalandhar .
