Conference on Advances in Gastro-intestinal Cancers, 1st May 2022 at Hotel Fortune, Jalandhar.

As we are all aware gastrointestinal cancers include various organ sub-sites such as gastric cancer, esophageal cancers, colorectal cancers, hepatobiliary cancers and pancreatic cancers. Overall these are responsible for many cancer deaths and are an increasing burden (both incidence and mortality) in India and indeed worldwide. In India given our socio-economic disparity and limited health-care resources treatment remains challenging.

The Conference on “Advances in GI Cancers Update 2022” was part of Patel Multi-Superspeciality & Cancer Hospital’s annual initiative as a comprehensive cancer center, to bring focused cancer events to our region, and to keep us all abreast and contemporary in the ever-evolving world of cancer care. Doctors from all over India participated in this conference. Prominent doctors among these were Dr. Harpreet Singh from Oswal Hospital, Ludhiana, Dr. Jatin Sarin from IVY Hospital Mohali, Dr. Kunal Jain from DMC Ludhiana, Dr. Punit Singla from Jaypee Hospital Noida, Dr. Manmohan Singh Bedi from Max Hospitals Mohali, Dr. Mohit Sharma from Amritsar, Dr. Shikha Goyal from PGI Chandigarh, Dr. Gagan Saini form Max Hospitals Delhi, New Delhi among others.

This conference was organized by Patel Multi-Superspeciality Hospital at Hotel Fortune, Jalandhar on Sunday, May 1st 2022, under the aegis of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) & Association of Surgeons of India (ASI). More than 200 doctors participated in this conference, and it was a truly multidisciplinary meeting of global standards.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Alok Lalwani, President, Indian Medical Association – Jalandhar Chapter, Dr. Chanjiv Singh, Secretory, Association of Surgeons of India- Punjab Chapter, Dr. Kamal Gupta, President, Association of Surgeons of India – Jalandhar Chapter, Dr. Shamit Chopra, Director, Patel Hospital & Dr. Jasmine Kaur Dahiya, Member, Punjab Medical Council.
