The Department of Gastroenterology offers a wide range of
inpatient, outpatient and endoscopic services to patients with gastrointestinal
and liver diseases.
The
hospital has a separate endoscopy suite, which is equipped with the state of the
art video endoscopy system. Various endoscopy procedures, which are regularly
performed, include:
Upper gastrointestinal
endoscopy:
Diagnostic and therapeutic
procedures including sclerotherapy, Endoscopic variceal ligation, Esophageal
stricture dilatation, Endoscopic treatment of bleeding peptic ulcers, endoscopic
removal of foreign bodies, prosthesis deployment,endoscopic polypectomies,
Achalasia cardia dilatation, Endoscopic transmural pseudocyst drainage are
routinely performed.

Lower gastrointestinal
endoscopy:
Colonoscopy, proctosigmoidoscopy and polypectomies.
ERCP:
Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as endoscopic management of various
biliary disorders such as CBD stone extraction, placement of biliary stents,
NBD, Stricture dilatation and prosthesis deployment. Endoscopic management of
Chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic duct stents is also done in our department.
Gastroenterolo gist & Hepatologist see patients
with diseases or disorders of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, esophagus,
stomach, small intestine and colon.
